CUSTOMIZED LEARNING – THEMES & RESOURCES

This program illustrates the principle that the "experts" in designing work are those persons who do the jobs in question. It is also their commitment and ownership for the new work design that heightens the prospect of success for the implementation of change.

The different experiences of the two successful workplaces in this program are examples of the options for how to pool people's knowledge for work design.  These options are also described in W.O. Lytle's "Accelerating the Design of High-Performance Organizations" (see Good Reading), and in the powerful methodology of the Emerys' "Participative Design Workshop" and "A Brief Introduction to the Emerys' Search Conference" in the Trist/Tavistock Anthology.

Themes are linked to other programs in this DVD Collection: " Engineering for Commitment": Principles & Method; the program "Whole Systems Teamwork": Story 2: Everybody Leads; and "Responsible Self-Management: Story" 1: Cutting Edge Teamwork.
